Society was to be based on Egalitarianism (Shuker, 1987), but there is still a difference between private public schools. Two of top five reasons parents give for choosing a private school are : ï  ± Small Class room Sizes ï  ± More Individual attention (Kelly Scafidi, 2013). ï  ± In 2012, Education Minister, Hekia Parata, decided to increase ï  ± the class size as quality of teaching mattered more because teacher quality is far more cost-effective than reducing class ï  ± size (â€Å"Editorial: Size Matters,†2012). ï  ± As a result of this decision there will be an increase of up to five extra students in a class - that has upset parents, teachers and others in the education sector. ï  ± Joelle Walker wrote if teachers are qualified and motivated to engage kids, class size does not matter (Fuatai, 2012). ï  ± according to Alexander Forgie these changes were positive because there would be a standard for class size (Fuatai, 2012). ï  ± Principals Federation president Paul Drummond argued and said that class size makes a big difference. A smaller class teacher are able to deal with a more personalized program (Fuatai, 2012). ï  ± NZEI president Ian Leckie said all parents knew that young children learn in a better way when they had better one-to-one time with teachers.So how does a reduction in the number of and the creation of bigger class sizes result in better outcomes?(Law, and Hartevelt, 2012).
